HEALDSBURG, CA (July 24, 2018) The Temptations and The Four Tops, two iconic bands defining the Motown sound in the ‘60s and ‘70s, will perform at the Rodney Strong Summer Concert Series presented by Montgomery Village on August 26.
For more than 50 years, The Temptations have prospered, propelling popular music with a series of smash hits and sold-out performances throughout the world.
An essential component of the Motown machine, The Temptations began their musical life in Detroit. With an avalanche of hits, such as “The Way You Do the Things You Do,” “My Girl,” “Beauty Is Only Skin Deep,” and “Papa Was a Rolling Stone,” affection for this super-group has never been greater.
The Four Tops quartet made their first single in 1956. Their first Motown hit, “Baby I Need Your Loving” in 1964, made them stars.
Soulful and bittersweet, their songs thereafter were across the board successes. “I Can’t Help Myself (Sugar Pie Honey Bunch) was a No. 1 R&B and Pop smash in 1965 and one of Motown’s longest-running chart toppers. “It’s The Same Old Song,” “Reach Out I’ll Be There” and “Standing In The Shadows of Love” are also long-time favorites. Touring incessantly, the group continues to be a big hit in concert.
In addition to great entertainers, the Rodney Strong Summer Concert Series features award-winning wines and local food purveyors at the scenic Concert Green & Terrace setting at Rodney Strong Vineyards, 11455 Old Redwood Highway.
